Sound Russian Academy · with Victoria Borovskikh

Finally speak Russian —
not just memorise it.

Sound familiar?

You can tap the right answer — then freeze the second a real Russian speaks.

The alphabet still feels like a wall

You half-recognise the letters, but reading a real sentence is slow and stressful.

The six cases scramble every phrase

Every noun seems to change shape and you never know which ending is right.

You know words — but can’t build a sentence

Vocabulary lives in your head; it just won’t come out when you need to speak.

No one ever corrects how you sound

Apps mark answers right or wrong. None of them actually listen to you.

It’s not that you’re “bad at languages.” Most courses are engineered for correctness, not for speaking under pressure — so the one skill you actually wanted never arrives.

How Sound Russian is different

Built to get the words out of your mouth.

Six things apps don’t give you — and a real teacher does.

Hear it. Say it.

Real Russian in your ears from day one

Every lesson pairs video with native audio — not a robot voice. Tap any word to hear how it truly sounds and save it to your personal vocabulary in one click.

Practice that talks back

Interactive drills, instant feedback

Matching, fill-the-blank, sentence building and quizzes are built right into the site — no clunky third-party widgets. You see what you got right the moment you answer.

A human, not an algorithm

A teacher who actually reads your writing

Submit writing assignments and get them back reviewed by hand — with personal comments and a grade. This is the corrective feedback apps can never give you.

Your teacher

Hi, I’m Victoria Borovskikh.

I’m a qualified teacher with a degree from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU). I’ve taught Russian to learners all over the world — and I kept seeing the same heartbreak: motivated students quitting, not from lack of effort, but because no app ever taught them to actually speak.

So I built Sound Russian around the things that truly move you forward: hearing real Russian, practising out loud, and getting honest feedback from a person who cares whether you succeed. You won’t be learning alone with a robot — you’ll be learning with me.

Before you start

Questions, answered.

I’ve tried Duolingo and Babbel — how is this different?+

Apps are built for correctness: tap the right answer, collect a streak. But nothing ever hears you speak or corrects how you sound. Sound Russian is built around a real teacher — video and native audio, writing that gets reviewed by hand, and a chat where you send Victoria text or voice messages and get real answers.

Isn’t Russian too hard to even start?+

The alphabet and the cases feel like a wall — until someone breaks them into small, ordered steps. That’s exactly how the A1 course is designed: you start with sounds and letters, then build phrase by phrase, with practice after every idea.

How much time do I need?+

As little as 10–15 minutes a day. Lessons are short and self-contained, your progress saves automatically, and you can pick up exactly where you left off on any device.

Which level should I choose?+

Brand new to Russian, or can’t yet read Cyrillic comfortably? Start with A1. Already know the basics and want everyday conversation? Go with A2. Not sure — try a free demo lesson first.

What do I actually get when I enrol?+

Full access to every video, audio, interactive exercise and quiz in the course, writing assignments reviewed by your teacher, a personal vocabulary tool with pronunciation, progress tracking, and the private student Telegram community.

Can I ask questions along the way?+

Yes — that’s the whole point. Message Victoria directly from your account by text or voice, and drop questions under any lesson. You’re learning with a teacher, not alone with an app.
